The visit ended this morning with goodbyes to Summer and Ryan and the twins, the kind that are easy to say and harder to mean. The flight back to San Diego was uneventful, and for once the cabin was quiet the whole way; no crying children this time. Home again, I took up the Diablo II campaign where I’d left it, the familiar work of clearing old ground. A house is quieter after a full one empties out, but there’s a comfort in returning to what waits patiently for you.
