Yesterday was a busy day. Spent most of my day reading through all the code my team produced during the week I was out. That ended up taking longer than I thought, but I think it was time well spent. I was able to figure out who is doing well, who is struggling, and who is stepping up. There’s a teammate in particular that I’m really impressed by. Ended up writing a bunch of retro notes. This week I will start to meet with my team and work on their career development and the idea is to create customized plans based on their personalities and quirks. I’ve never done something like that, so we will see how it pans out.
I also ended up spending more money than I wanted, heh. Now that my house is mostly fixed (I would say 70% fixed), I’ve been starting to think about ways to improve my home office. Well, the computing equipment purchasing got a little out of hand. I justify it in my head by saying that it will last a long time and make me more productive, so it’s worth it, but I’m just playing games with myself. It’s definitely a “want” and “comfort” purchase.
My grandma has been sick and has a live-in nurse now. I helped moved her in last weekend. Today is the 2nd day of her living with her. I think my grandma is a little distrusting of people which can cause issues with strangers. I should call both of them to make sure they’re ok. That’s on the TODO list for today.
For Fiber Club, I made some tickets. The AWS certificates are expiring soon. They usually renew automatically, but they couldn’t be renewed, so I have to manually do that. I also have to mess with the IAM and security settings of the deployment. I’m also starting to take networking more seriously. I subscribed to some newsletter, emailed a few people, and started posting to LinkedIn.
It’s a Champions League day. My prediction is Barcelona and Atletico Madrid will go through.
