Just got word for how much San Diego Football Club (SDFC) is asking for Club season tickets. It’s frankly absurd. $6k to $10k per seat for 23 games. And some of the tickets require multi-year commitments. Excuse me, what? You want a family to drop a thousand dollars per game? This is an unproven team, in an unproven market, on a stadium that isn’t even football specific (there’s no shade, the parking and public transit options are mediocre, it floods when it rains, the acoustics suck, they don’t let supporters bring flags and drums, the list goes on). And for what? To watch a semi-retired Messi once a year? The team doesn’t even have a full roster yet. They literally only have three announced players so far! And they want $200 per ticket for that!? Many SDFC supporters will be from low income neighborhoods. It’s like the club is trying to go for a record for how fast they can bankrupt a franchise. It’s like they don’t realize that for that amount of money San Diegans have a plethora of entertainment options. Make it make sense.
